Have many of your students adopted virtual pets on Webkinz? Are they members of Club Penguin? Do they know the ways in which Cyber-Predators using these and other “kid-friendly” sites target victims? We will cover these issues and many others during this kid-friendly, informative, and interactive program. By bringing three-dimensional reality to the two-dimensional world of Cyberspace, students will better understand the world of cyber-socializing and cyber-bullying.

Have many of your students created MySpace profiles? Are your students checking their “Hotornot” ratings in between classes? Are they playing “Slap-a-Ho” or “Hide the Hotties” during class? Do they understand the consequences of using video phones to record the behavior and images of others? This highly interactive program provides an update on the world of cyber-dating, cyber-rating, blogs, pornography, gaming, gambling, and cyber-stalking. These technologies have revolutionized youth social scenes in ways we are only beginning to understand and unfortunately many students are completely unaware of the dangers offered by these technologies.

Will the digital dossier of your students someday trump their paper resume? Have your students entrusted their future to the Privacy Settings on Facebook? Can free speech be held against them? Would their graduate school rescind an offer of admission if they saw your student's latest text messages? Participants are led through a tour of live popular websites while we discuss their risks of use. Our presenter’s insights into online behavior are gleaned from research, experience, insider-information from today’s teens as well as partnerships with technology-focused institutions and the FBI. In exploring the technologies that have grown up alongside today’s students, participants will better understand how to protect themselves from possible addictions and exploitations.
