The prom. The dresses. The tuxedos. The dinner, dancing, and romance.
For many, it’s an ageless rite of passage.
Post-prom. The partying. The alcohol. The peer pressure, "hook-ups,"
and sex. For many, it’s a risky night of first-time behaviors.
Jenny and Michael. Two friends, a budding flirtation, and a disaster
that neither will ever forget.
A talented national speaker presents the story of Jenny and
Michael, taking the audience along with them to the prom, and then
the after-party. There is dancing, drinking, and more drinking.
There is a volleyball game in a backyard, and sex in an upstairs
bedroom. Jenny and Michael attend high school in Anytown, USA. Their
story is one of peer pressure and poor choices. You decide: was
it sexual assault?
In this interactive program, students use their skills of analysis
and synthesis as they debate the case of Jenny and Michael. They
learn the difference between seduction and coercion, and the complications
that can result from combining alcohol and sex. Students leave with
a better understanding of the legal definition of sexual assault
and a sense of responsibility for developing their own community
standards of trust and respect for others. Students gain skills
for risk reduction and intervention. This program brings communities
together, balancing individual and group accountability.
