the Jury?” In this program, parents receive a comprehensive
update on relationship culture and sexual misconduct among today’s
teens. With her captivating delivery, and vast breadth of knowledge
about the teen relationship scene, acclaimed speaker, Katie Koestner,
provides parents across the country with the tools to effectively
communicate with their kids about sensitive gender issues.
Katie shares her story of being assaulted at age 18 and subsequently
taking a national stand against Date Rape that led to her appearance
on the cover of TIME Magazine. This program is based upon the thousands
of high school visits she has made throughout the United States,
as well as important statistics which shed light upon contemporary
manifestations of peer pressure, alcohol and drug abuse, and sexual
culture. This program explores the prevalence of sexual assault
among 12-18 year old girls, as well as the ways in which boys can
be victimized.
Attendees have the opportunity to discuss and debate a real-life
case study, as well as experience a multi-media presentation of
teen pop culture, from movies to magazines. Parents leave equipped
to connect with their teens in a healthier way and with the skills to better empower
their teens to make safe social decisions.
