Webinars - Peer-Connect

Interactive. Engaging. Challenging.

Peer leaders and peer counselors join other students from across the country for a series of online seminars hosted by Campus Outreach Services. Create awareness in your student community through our comprehensive, interactive, and engaging programs. Students hear from nationally known presenters, authors, experts, and psychologists on Monday evenings throughout the school year on eight critical risk issues. Our presenters provide the latest research and practical tips in their areas of expertise. All sessions are moderated by Katie Koestner, national student safety and wellness expert who has appeared on the cover of TIME Magazine, been the subject of an HBO movie, and lectured at over 1,500 schools in North America. Other featured presenters include:

  • Dr. Angela Celio Doyle, Eating Disorders Program Coordinator, Licensed Clinical Psychologist, and Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Chicago

  • Dr. Jason Kilmer, Addictive Behaviors Specialist at Evergreen State College Jonathon Mooney, founder and president of Project Eye-To-Eye, a mentoring and advocacy non-profit organization for students with learning differences

  • Dr. Karen Swartz, co-director of the John Hopkins Mood Disorders Program and founder of the Adolescent Depression Awareness Program (ADAP)

Series Highlights

Outstanding National Experts: Our risk issue authorities include best-selling authors, national spokespersons, and cutting-edge researchers.

Interactive Polls: Participants can respond on the spot to anonymous interactive polls to gauge national trends and opinions. Answers are instantly quantified and visually broadcast during the program so that students can see how others feel on a topic.

Q & A with Anonymity: Participants can anonymously submit questions through a chat function to a moderator who reads them during the live session for instant response by our experts.

Archived Recordings: Busy students may not be able to make it to all of the live sessions. A webbased Resource Center hosts recordings of the sessions for your institution that can be watched when it is most convenient for the viewer – any time, any day through the end of the school year.

Parent-Connect Series:  Your parents can participate in their own version of the program!  Select the "Parents" tab on the menu appearing on the upper left of this page.

Who can participate? As many people as you can fit in a room with a speaker phone that can be amplified so all can hear the training and a projector with a laptop to transmit the web-cast from the Internet onto a screen in front of the audience!

Note: The training will not conflict with individual school policies, but will bring to life what is often described in handbooks. Easy-to-follow facilitation guides for each session are also available. Case studies are provided for group discussion and application of newly attained knowledge.
